I love being a part of the Morrison community.
It's a unique experience. Morrison staff live together, work together, worship together. Your coworker can be your neighbor, as well as a parent of one of your students. Or as in my class last year, the principal was also one of my parents. His wife my aide.
In addition, the mixing, combining of cultures. Not just American and Taiwanese, but Canadian, South African, Australian, Korean, British, and Chinese.
But there is another community of which we are members.
And that is the One Mission Society, or OMS. We are very blessed to be included among this special group of people. Besides Morrison staff, the Taiwan OMS family includes church planters, English evangelism teachers, family counselors, and seminary professors.
Last weekend, during our Thanksgiving break, OMS missionaries from all over the Taiwan island gathered in the southern city, Kenting. For four days we ate, worshiped, hiked, and just generally had a great time together.
As you can tell by the position of my hair, it was rather windy! Otherwise, what a good looking bunch! |
One of our first activities was a scamera hunt. We were divided into five groups. Each group was given a camera, a map, and a sheet of clues written as a limerick. For the next four hours we traveled around the most southern tip of the island looking for the correct landmarks. Once located, the limerick provided clues as to what and who was to be digitally captured.
Our team consisted Carl, myself, Abbi, Jacob, three other teens, and Ryan, one of our counselors. Nick and Ben were on another team. Points were given for correctness, as well as creativity. Our team specialized in the creative department!

A short time later we saw this sign on the side of the road and did an after picture. |
Yes, you can even get Starbucks in Kenting! |
Whooping and hollering at Nixon Rock beach. |
Yep, they're shooting another sign. |

and provided a lamb instead!

The clue instructed a married couple to reenact a proposal. Ironically, that day was the 20th anniversary of Carl proposing! |
The last stop was lunch! |
Now that you have looked at all the pictures, look again. In them all, except maybe the team picture by the van, had this little gnome posing with us. Can you find him?
